Foals ‘Holy Fire’ – A Review

I’ve written a blog about how much I love the band Foals before; I’m about to write another one.

I am proud to say I remember the first time I ever heard a Foals song. It was their classic single Cassius, and I heard it on ITV news one evening. I’m pretty sure I bought the album Antidotes immediately, and have since played it to the point of destruction.

I waited so long for their follow-up record; Total Life Forever. I refused to listen to any of my friends illegal downloads or even watch the teaser videos on youtube. I wanted it for my birthday in May and it had been released just 2 weeks before this date. When I finally got my hands on a copy, I was blown away. Blue Blood, Alabaster, Two Trees and Spanish Sahara still give me goosebumps.

Then there was Holy Fire. Again, I’d been waiting for so long for new material, but I couldn’t resist watching the video for single Inhaler when it was released a month or so before the album. It’s power nearly knocked me out of my chair…and that’s more or less what happened when I received Holy Fire a day late through the post this month. Inhaler, Out of the Woods, Bad Habit, Providence and Stepson are my favourite tracks.

I believe in Holy Fire and I hope it burns its way through your stressed out skin and makes you dance like a madman. That’s what I’ve been doing all week.
